Gateway & Initial Assessment Officer Trainee - Sutton SM1
Basic salary is £24,279

We are offering an exciting opportunity to join our company in a trainee role at a time when homelessness services are undergoing significant change, and play a key role in the development of our service to meet the requirements of the new Homelessness Reduction Act.

As a trainee Gateway & Initial Assessment Officer, you will be provided with training to enable you to advise and support clients with a wide range of housing related problems. We expect you to be a fully trained officer 12-24 months after joining us at which point you may have the opportunity for a permanent position within the organisation.

You will promote our service values and provide support and assistance to households who are homeless or threatened with homelessness and determine what Housing duty might be owed. You will develop excellent skills in case management, advocacy and housing legislation.

These are full time (36 hours per week) posts. There is an annual leave entitlement of 23 days plus Bank Holidays. We also offer the opportunity for flexible working and telecommuting and the purchase of annual leave.

The Person

You must be able to demonstrate excellent communication, customer service and time management skills. You must be self-motivated and ambitious – some knowledge of Homelessness or housing legislation would be a bonus but not essential. You should be able to work with minimal supervision and to take responsibility for your own development. You will be focused on the delivery of an excellent service.
