For this job role, you will be working in the Housing Advice, Information and Assessment Service to help deliver an effective and efficient Homelessness Prevention and Statutory Homelessness assessment service to meet the needs of service users.
In this job role you will:
- Assess eligibility for accommodation and be responsible for making complex decisions as to whether a statutory homelessness duty applies
- Issue robust decision letters aligned with legislation
- Provide advice in areas such as Security of Tenure, Possessions Proceedings, Housing Options and Welfare Benefits
- Take a casework approach to seek out solutions
We are looking for someone who has:
- In-depth working knowledge of Part VI and VII of the Housing Act 1996 (as amended)
- Significant experience of making complex homelessness decisions
- Good working knowledge of Housing Options and legislation
- Ability to interpret and explain complex legislation and guidance
- Demonstrable customer-focused attitude
